Some senior subjects, including History, and a few Upper School subjects, use the Chicago 17 referencing style. A referencing style is a set of rules on how to acknowledge the thoughts, ideas and works of others in a particular way. This system uses footnote referencing, as well as creating a bibliography. We recommend the use of Zotero to manage your sources of information and create footnotes.
Please note: In 2025, Chicago 18 is being introduced. Zotero, the Quick Guide and other sources will be updated automatically. There are no major changes between Chicago 17 and Chicago 18, please use whichever you prefer, as long as you use it consistently.
