In the search box above, you have the option to either:
- Search the Library Catalogue in the first tab for books we hold in the Conde Library and also our ebooks and audiobooks.
- Search the Library SuperSearch in the second tab for the items we hold in the Library (as above) and also all the journal articles, media articles and academic ebooks we subscribe to.
Be smart about your searching, check out the following tips to help your research:
- Keywords: Choose relevant words related to your topic.
- Keep search terms simple. For example, Cold War Kennedy, rather than What impact did Kennedy have on the Cold War.
- Phrases: Use quotation marks to search for an exact phrase. For example, "Cuban Missile Crisis" - this keeps the words together so that the search engine or database knows to search for these three words together.
- Be creative: Try different search words, such as synonyms or related words.
- Be flexible - try broad searches first, then narrow searches because search tools require different strategies
- Learn as you go: Keep your eyes open for new vocabulary that you find in your sources (book, article or website results), and use this new search vocabulary for your next search
- Be persistent: Look in more than one place. Check out books, websites, videos, podcasts and articles.
