Bibliography generator

A bibliography is a list of resources (books, articles, websites, speeches and others) you use when researching a topic and writing a paper. The bibliography appears at the end.

The main purpose of a bibliography entry is to give credit to authors whose work you've consulted in your research. It also makes it easy for a reader to find out more about your topic by delving into the research that you used to write your paper.

Bibliography entries must be written in a very specific format. At Pymble, we use the APA system in Years 7-10. SLASA is a tool that can be used to help you create correct references for your bibliography. Click on the link below to gain access to SLASA (please note you can only access SLASA through the Pymble Library links as it is a paid for tool).

Zotero

Zotero is a tool that you can download to assist you store, keep track of and organise your references for citations. It can be used for all referencing styles, including APA 7th. The really useful thing about Zotero is that it captures the data of a source with the click of a button. It then saves that data in your Zotero library and taps into it to automatically create a correct citation.

You need to download the Zotero software to your machine. Please see the screencast below for assistance with this. Please note you need to download both the Zotero program AND the connector to help you capture the data from electronic resources.

It does take a bit of use to get the hang of Zotero, but once you do, it becomes second-nature and is quite straightforward to use. And as with anything, please check all citations generated by Zotero to ensure there are no problems. Nothing beats the human eye for this kind of crosschecking.

Please note that you need to choose APA 7th for your Elective Geography assignments in your Zotero preferences.
